The Great Minneapolis Surplus Store published the following advertisement in a Minneapolis newspaper: “Saturday 9 a.m. 2 Brand New Pastel Mink 3-Skin Scarfs selling for $89.50 now selling for $1.00 each. 1 Black Lapin Stole worth $139.50 will sell for $1.00. First Come First Served.” Leftkowitz, the first customer admitted to the store on Saturday, tried to buy the Lapin stole. The store refused to sell it to Lefkowitz, stating that the offer was for women only. Leftkowitz sued. Was the offer definite enough to allow Leftkowitz to tender a valid acceptance? Tucker Cartwrite was playing blackjack at the Gold Dust Casino in Deadwood SD. He became angry that he was losing money and decided to break a chair at the blackjack table. He was banned from the premises by the owner of the Gold Dust and advised he could never return. Despite the ban, Cartwrite returned to the Gold Dust 2 months
later, walked past the security guard and started gambling at a slot machine. He won $4,532. When he went to the cage to collect the winnings, the caisno refused to pay. He filed suit for breach of contract, arguing that he and the casino had a contract because he had accepted its offer to gamble. Is there a contract between the casino and Cartwrite? Explain your answer applying the law you learned and include any case law reference.
