Discussion: Excerpt from “, said the shotgun to the head” by Saul Williams -OR- “Departure” by Lisa Suhair Majaj. Pick ONE of these two poems. In around 100 words, write about an example of imagery or a simile that you can identify. What is the imagery or simile being used to explain? Remember that imagery is language used to appeal to the five senses: smell, touch, taste, sight, and hearing, and a simile makes a comparison between two unlikely things using “like” or “as.” For example, “She’s as pretty as a rose” or “He’s as dumb as a doorknob.” (See page 9 of the Course Reader).
